This iconic dress from Focus Film's adaptation of NOSFERATU is a detailed recreation of one of the dresses that the character Ellen Hunter wears. The early Victorian era showcased drama and the voluminous sleeves on this dress are trimmed with shirring and ruffled for an even more dramatic effect. The wide off-shoulder neckline sensually exposes décolletage and, most importantly, the neck. The neckline is delicately trimmed with shirred cotton cluny in ivory white and can be worn on or off shoulder.
The calico floral with dotted stripes print echo to the domestic sphere of influence that was inherent of the era. The romantic fitted drop waist bodice ends into a lushly full skirt lined in soft rayon challis and flounced with a ruffled tulle to give the skirt some volume. It's a contradiction of the times - simultaneously embracing modesty with hints of flamboyance. Features a full-length maxi skirt.
